Coffeyville Community College gives you a strong foundation in the fundamentals of music and an impressive resume to take to a four-year college or university when you transfer.  There are numerous choirs, musical theatre productions and solo opportunities available for music students.  At CCC we embrace “professionalism” and “ensemble” to create a unified choral sound.

Concert Choir

  • Raven Soundsations - This elite, auditioned show choir performs throughout the midwest as the College’s student music ambassadors.  The number in the group differs each year and includes from 12-18 students.  The Soundsations performed in Branson, Missouri in 2003 and will peform there again in March 2005.  Chosen from the members of the Raven Soundsations is a men’s quartet, who also perform throughout the school year.  The Soundsations performed for several Branson acts at the Starlight Theatre in March 2005. • Concert Choir - The Concert Choir is a large, mixed ensemble with approximately 65 singers.  The group performs one major concert each semester and tours in the spring.  The Concert Choir performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in April, 1998, with the New England Symphonic Orchestra.  Listen to the Concert Choir perform Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus  (mp3 format), O Sifuni Mungu (mp3) and Thank You Very Much (mp3).
  • Madrigals - Created in 2002, the Madrigals are a select ensemble of eight to twelve students who perform period pieces, in addition to jazz and folk songs.  The ensemble performs for the public schools in the surrounding area and for community events.
  • Ravenettes - New for 2006 is a women's show choir, the Ravenettes.  This select group of 13 students will perform with the Raven Soundsations for all concerts and community performances.  This group also performs at several area high schools. [2006-2007 Ravenettes]
  • Musical - Each fall the Fine Arts Department stages a musical theatre production.  The Sound of Music will be the musical performed for the 2007-08 school year.
  • Choir Clinic - Area high schools annually participate in a fall Choir Clinic, hosted by the Coffeyville Community College Choral Music Department.  A guest clinician works with approximately 11 high school Show Choirs and Concert Choirs from Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Performance Opportunities 2007-2008 Show Choir

There are many performance opportunities in the CCC Music Department.  Choral music students learn the fundamentals of singing chorally and as a soloist.  Selected students also have an opportunity to sing the National Anthem at College sporting events.
