Vocal Music Curriculum Guide
and Degree Plan
The vocal music program at
Coffeyville Community College is designed for students who intend to
transfer to a 4-year college and university degree program. The associate
of arts degree is the most appropriate degree option for music majors.
Associate in Arts
Degree
This degree is meant to transfer to a baccalaureate degree granting
institution. The student must complete 64 semester hours with a grade
point average of 2.00 (C) or above. There is a minimum cumulative general
education requirement of 35 semester hours. A minimum number of semester
credit hours will be required in each of the fields listed below. NOTE: No
courses numbered below 100 apply.
I. Written and Oral Communications (9 hours)

# Interpersonal & Group Communications

II. Social and Behavioral Sciences
A minimum of 6 credit hours from the following:

VIII. Area of Interest (29 semester hours)
Although the area of interest requirement can be
completed with college-level courses in any academic area, the area of
interest hours are mostly fulfilled by courses in the students intended
major. For music majors, music courses offered by Coffeyville Community
College include Theory I, II, III, IV (3 credit hours), Sight Singing/Ear
Training I & II (3 credit hours), Adv. SS & ET I & II (3 credit hours),
Applied Lessons: Vocal/Instrumental/Piano (1 credit hour), Conducting and
Adv. Conducting (1 credit hour), Ensembles (any combination), Concert/Pep
Band (2 credit hours), Jazz Ensemble (1 credit hour), Concert Choir (1
credit hour), Raven Soundsations/Choreography (2 credit hours), Music
Appreciation (3 credit hours).
* Student should check with advisor for specific course requirements
at transfer institution. The specific classes taken by the music major
will largely depend upon the requirements of their intended transfer
college/university.
** College Orientation is required for all first-time, full-time,
degree-seeking students.
