Computer Networking Technology Program
|
| Students who complete the computer networking
program at Coffeyville Community College have skills in demand globally,
in businesses small and large. Several students have written the
college describing their career paths after program completion. Kyle Schulz works for BancTec Computer and Network Services, supporting desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, LANs/WANs, and Intel based servers. Schulz said, "Attending classes at Coffeyville Community College has provided me with more than just a working knowledge of computers. At CCC, you receive hands-on training as well as lecture time with your instructor. I believe the instructors strive to stay up-to-date with the technology used today. Working on special projects with my classmates teaches you to work as a team to accomplish a goal in a real world situation. Working with my classmates also taught me the people skills needed to be successful in the world today. All in all, CCC is a great place to get your education." Lori Patterson works for Bartlesville Public Schools in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In an email, she states "I'm working for Bartlesville Public Schools with a tech team of three others besides myself. If I hadn't had certifications, I never would have gotten an interview. There were 60 applications for this position. When it came time to negotiate pay, I was given a .50 per hour premium for each certification I have." David McDaniel works for Saco Industries Inc. in Lowell, Indiana as their Network and Systems Administrator. He said, "What I learned in class was very crucial for what I am doing today. One of the biggest advantages for me after leaving the class and coming to work up here was the Network OS here is the same version as we studied in class. Also Microsoft, Cisco, and Linux are incorporated at Saco. Taking classes at CCC helped me get a job in my profession at the first place I handed my resume." Dana Balden is currently a Program Coordinator for an Internet media and marketing company. "I would have to say the most important aspect of my training at Coffeyville was simply increasing my confidence to pursue an IT related occupation. As we are all aware, Information Technology can be completely overwhelming. Computers and the Internet are in nearly every home and office today. By completing the networking course, I obtained the basic understanding of the fundamentals and industry standards not to mention a passion for technological communication. The program provided an opportunity for some hands-on experience that I will always appreciate." Don Mayfield is currently a Technical Consultant for Waddell & Reed in Kansas City. "Since I have been in Kansas City, I have had five job offers, something I would not have believed last year. I guess all that studying I did in class is paying off. I would like to thank you again for all you have done for me. So to all the guys who sit around and do nothing, take it from me, studying does pay off BIG." Robert Webb is currently a Technical Support Representative for Terra World, Inc., a Kansas Internet Service Provider. "The skills and knowledge I received in the Networking Technology program were top notch. The instructor was excellent and was always striving to get everyone up-to-date on the newest technologies and programs. |
