Eta Gamma Members Pick Grapes at Coffeyville Vineyard

Several members of the Eta Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa picked grapes at a Coffeyville area vineyard on August 26.

Chapter members kicked off the new year on August 26 harvesting grapes at the Osage Springs Vineyard.  The vineyard is located northwest of Coffeyville.

Members picked 1,732 pounds of Chardonel grapes, a French hybrid of Chardonnay and Seyval on an American root stalk.  Of the nine grape varieties at the vineyard, Chardonel is the only white variety.

The total of all grapes picked was 4,035 pounds, equal to two tons or 120 cases of wine.  The grapes were delivered to the Somerset Ridge Winery in Paola where they will be made into wine.
The Eta Gamma members will pick red grape varieties on September 2.  Eta Gamma members providing leadership to the project were:  Alyssa Long, McKenzie Bauer, Brue Ellis, Jacen Clapp, and LeAnne Bale.
