Hey, former Red Raven baseball players, the coaching staff at CCC
would like to form a Red Raven Baseball Alumni organization. To
help accomplish this, former players are urged to fill out an
alumni update form that will ask for
current contact information.

Several current and recently graduated Coffeyville Community College
baseball players will be active in leagues this summer.

Acosta, Mitcheltree named to All-Conference team
Two Coffeyville Community College baseball players were selected to
the All-Conference team following the 2009 season. Freshman
outfielder Hector Acosta was named to the second team and sophomore
pitcher Jake Mitcheltree was named honorable mention.
Acosta, was a force in the middle of the Coffeyville line-up in 2009.
Acosta hit .349 with six homers and drove in 36 runs. Acosta was
drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 2008 Major League Baseball
Amateur draft.
Mitcheltree was a steadying influence on the Coffeyville pitching
staff in 2009. Mitcheltree ended the season with a 3-5 record and
a 2.67 ERA. In 39 innings, Mitcheltree struck out 23 and walked
14. Mitcheltree has signed with Southern Nazarene University.
Five
CCC baseball players to continue careers at four-year schools
Five Coffeyville Community College players will
continue their careers at four-year institutions following the
conclusion of the 2009 season. Those signing include Collin
Edwards, Tyler Lansangan, Matt Dahms, Jake Mitcheltree, and Tyler

Wet weather forces changes to schedule
The latest round of wet weather has created a few schedule changes
for the Coffeyville Community College baseball team. The
doubleheader scheduled for Sunday at Johnson County has been moved back
to April 28 at 2 p.m. With that change, the NEO-Coffeyville game
originally scheduled for April 28 at Coffeyville has been pushed back a
day to April 29. Game time for the April 29 NEO game will remain
at 2 p.m. at Walter Johnson Park. [2009

Coffeyville
sweeps doubleheader from Highland
The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens scored two runs in the
bottom of the fifth to gain a come from behind 7-6 over Highland on
Thursday afternoon, then followed up with a 12-0 hammering of the
Scotties in the second game to sweep a doubleheader match-up at Walter
Johnson Park in Coffeyville. [more]
Coffeyville-Johnson County postponed
The Coffeyville at Johnson County baseball game for April 19 has been
postponed due to rain. A make-up date will be announced later.
Coffeyville earns doubleheader sweep over Labette
The Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens swept a doubleheader from
Labette on Saturday afternoon at Walter Johnson Park. The wins

Coffeyville comes from behind twice in sweeping doubleheader from Allen
Coffeyville Community College came from behind twice in sweeping a
doubleheader from Allen County on Wednesday at Iola. Coffeyville
won the opener, 3-2, and then took the nightcap, 5-4. The
doubleheader was originally scheduled for Thursday, but due to the
likelihood for rain on Thursday, the games were moved up one day to

Coffeyville and Independence split doubleheader
After rescheduling twice, Coffeyville and Independence finally found
decent enough weather to play a doubleheader on Monday at Independence.
Coffeyville won the first game, 9-5, but Independence got their bats
rolling in the second game to defeat Coffeyville, 11-3. [more]
White's gem gains split for Coffeyville against KCK
Jeff White's complete game win in the second game of a doubleheader
salvaged a split for Coffeyville against Kansas City on a warm, windy
afternoon on April 4 at Walter Johnson Park.
With winds blowing out up to 40 miles per hour, White allowed just two
hits and one earned run in seven innings to lead Coffeyville to an 8-3
win over Kansas City. White walked two, hit two batters, and
struck out four. [more]

falls to Cowley

double, and triple in the second game.
The weather finally cooperated enough for Coffeyville and Cowley to
play a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The twinbill had been
rescheduled three separate times due to rain and snow. Cowley took
the first game, 10-0, but Coffeyville put up a fight in the second game.
Coffeyville took a 5-4 lead into the top of the seventh, but Cowley was
able to tie the score with a scratch run. Coffeyville loaded the
bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh, but left the winning
run stranded at third. Cowley rallied for two runs in the top of
the eighth to gain the come from behind win, 7-5. Coffeyville,
weather permitting, have games scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and
Saturday. Saturday's games will be at Walter Johnson Park at 1
p.m. against Kansas City. The latest changes are noted on the
revised 2009 schedule.
Coffeyville sweeps doubleheader from Highland
The Coffeyville Community College baseball team moved back to .500 in
conference play with Thursday's (March 25) sweep of Highland at
Highland. Coffeyville won the first game 10-3 and came from behind
to win the second game, 14-9. The wins improved Coffeyville to 7-7
in Jayhawk Conference play. [more] Coffeyville drops doubleheader with Labette, cancel Ottawa JV trip
The Coffeyville baseball team dropped a doubleheader with Labette on
Sunday afternoon (March 22). The games, played at Parsons, were
rescheduled due to Saturday's rain out. Coffeyville fell 20-11 and
11-6. Coffeyville has decided to cancel Monday's (March 23)
doubleheader with the Ottawa Univ. JV in Ottawa. Weather
permitting, Coffeyville will host Johnson County on Tuesday, March 24.
First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Walter Johnson Park.

splits doubleheader with Allen County
A strong pitching performance by Collin Edwards helped Coffeyville salvage
a doubleheader split with Allen County on Thursday, March 19.
Edwards, who started the second game and was the winning pitcher, went
five innings and allowed just two runs in Coffeyville's 5-2 win over
Allen County. Tommy Moses pitched a scoreless sixth and Jeff White
closed out the game with a scoreless seventh for the save. In the
first game, Allen County defeated Coffeyville 13-8. [more]
Coffeyville hammers Fort Scott in game one; Fort Scott takes game two
The Coffeyville Community College baseball team split a doubleheader with
Fort Scott at Walter Johnson Park on Wednesday, March 18. In the
opening game, Coffeyville hammered Fort Scott 14-3 in a game shortened
to five innings due to the run rule. In the nightcap, Fort Scott

The Coffeyville Community College baseball team split a doubleheader with

on Saturday afternoon (Mar. 14). Coffeyville won the first game,
3-1. In the nightcap, Coffeyville nipped Kansas City, 2-1.

double-header played Thursday at Walter Johnson Park. Independence
won the first game of a double-header, 4-3, but won the second game,

Mother Nature 1, Coffeyville-Fort Scott 0
The Coffeyville-Fort Scott baseball games scheduled for Tuesday,
March 10, have been postponed due to rain. The games were moved
earlier in the day to Coffeyville in hopes of finding better playing
conditions, but an afternoon rain shower in Coffeyville combined with a
35 degree wind chill nixed those plans. The games will be made up
at 1 p.m. on March 18 at Walter Johnson Park.

Khalili got the save by pitching the final two innings to lead

Ninth-inning rally not enough for Coffeyville in 4-2 loss to NOC-Enid
Coffeyville rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth, but fell
short in a 4-2 loss to NOC-Enid Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 24) in a game

The Coffeyville Community College baseball team had a tough weekend at
Texarkana, Texas, dropping four games to Texarkana College. [more]
Coffeyville wins rain shortened season opener over Butler
The Coffeyville Community College baseball team defeated Butler 7-0 in the
season opener for Coffeyville on Feb. 10 at El Dorado, Kansas. The
game was called in the top of the seventh inning due to heavy rain. [more]
Lansangan
selected as pre-season All-American by NJCAA
Sophomore pitcher Tyler Lansangan was selected as a pre-season
All-American by the NJCAA. Lansangan was selected on the second
team and is the first pre-season All-American in the history of
Coffeyville Community College baseball. Lansangan is also just one
of five Jayhawk Conference pre-season All-American selections for the
2009 season. Last season, Lansangan finished with a 6-3 record and
also had four saves. In 49 innings pitched, Lansangan recorded 43
strikeouts and nine walks and finished with an ERA of 1.44.
Lansangan is a native of Kansas City, Missouri.
A
Royal visit
The Red Raven baseball team had the opportunity to meet several
members of the Kansas City Royals organization on January 19. The
Royals visited Coffeyville's Nellis Hall as part of the annual Royals
Caravan. Visiting Royals included starting pitcher Zack Greinke,
first baseman Kila Ka'aihue, Royals Hall of Famer and former pitcher
Dennis Leonard, and former centerfielder and current broadcaster Brian
McRae. Slugger, the Royals' mascot, was also in attendance.
The Royals signed autographs and took part in a bevy of photo
opportunities with fans from Coffeyville and surrounding area. The
Royals caravan stop in Coffeyville was sponsored by KGGF radio, 690 AM.
Ravens release 2009 baseball schedule
The 2009 Coffeyville Community College baseball schedule has been
completed and includes a total of 51 games as the Ravens move into a new
era under first year head coach Andy Morgan. The schedule features 15
home dates and 15 road games. Of the 51 games, 36 are Jayhawk East
Conference games, and 15 are non conference games. [more]

Ravens ends fall season with Steak and Beans World Series

The Coffeyville Baseball team finished their fall schedule this week
with the Annual Steak and Beans World Series. The series was forced into
a deciding third game played on October 21 after a split on October 20.

takes homecoming championship, wins dodge ball
The baseball team was declared the winner of the Homecoming Spirit
Activities Award for 2008. Tyler Treinen took honors in a pair of
eating contests and two squads of baseball players competed for the
dodge ball championship. The team was also extremely competitive
in a variety of other activities throughout Homecoming week. In
the picture, the team poses in celebration of their Homecoming
achievements.

100 inning fundraiser game a huge success
The Coffeyville baseball program’s 100 inning marathon game was a
huge success. The event kicked off on Saturday morning at 10:00 am and
finished up around 1:00. The CCC baseball players were spilt up into 3
teams along with brothers, cousins, and dads. Each “inning” was 30 outs
long, so they played 10 “innings”. There were approximately 50 family
members in attendance. There was a bar-b-que after the game, and
everyone was able to enjoy the perfect weather. The Coffeyville baseball
program would like to thank everyone who donated money to the program. A
special thank you goes out to Gordon McBride for organizing the
BBQ/picnic with the parents and to all the parents for bringing food. [Photo

CCC participates in Sophomore Showcase
The Coffeyville Community College baseball team’s
sophomores participated in a pro style showcase and All Star games on
October 3-4 in Hutchinson. All ten sophomores participated in the
showcase on Friday, October 3, where they were put through various skill
evaluations. They ran timed 60 yd sprints, field and threw from their
positions, took batting practice and pitchers threw bullpens. After the
showcase, a nine inning All Star game was played.
The weekend was finished up on Saturday with two
more nine inning games. Five sophomores from all the participating
schools comprised the All Star teams.
Coffeyville’s representatives were Jason McBride,
Tyler Lansangan, Tyler Treinen, Matt Dahms, and Collin Edwards. "All of
the sophomores played good and represented Coffeyville Community College
well," said Coffeyville Head Baseball Coach Andy Morgan.

Coffeyville Community College assistant baseball
coach Andy Morgan has been selected as the new head baseball coach for
the Ravens.
Morgan has served as the assistant baseball coach
the previous two seasons before being named head coach taking over the
program from former head coach Ryan McCune who has moved to the head
softball coach position at the college. [more]
Raven signee Acosta drafted by Cleveland Indians
Red Raven baseball signee Hector Acosta was drafted by the Cleveland
Indians on June 6 in the annual Major League Baseball draft.
Acosta, a senior from Ogden, Kansas, who played for Junction City High
School was selected in the 50th round. Acosta is a 6-1, 205 pound
outfielder.
Lansangan and McBride named to All-Conference team
Two Red Ravens were selected to the Jayhawk Conference All-Conference
Team following the 2008 season. Pitcher Tyler Lansangan was named
to the first team and third baseman Jason McBride was selected to the
second team.
