Raven Dancers are national championsThe Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Dance Team tapped and kicked its way to a national championship on March 10 at the Cheerleaders of America (COA) Mid-America Open Cheer and Dance National Championship. The 12 lady Ravens competed in the collegiate variety division and took the title with a combination routine using jazz, pom, hip-hop and kick styles. CCC Dancers also took the top seven placings in the solo contest. Britney Ogans of Tulsa, Okla. took first; Kelsey Martin of Wichita, Kan. took second; Arnice Snell of Coffeyville, Kan. took third; Kerra Downing of Atchison, Kan. took fourth; Brittany Martinez of Tulsa, Okla. took fifth; Abby Harrington of Topeka, Kan. took sixth and Gina Ortiz of Darby, Kan. brought home seventh. I am so proud of them, this has made their year very long, said former Dance Coach Tamika Beck. It says something about this team that they were all still involved after the basketball season, they enjoyed it enough to keep working hard. This is the first CCC dance team to ever compete. |
