Leiker took over the reins in 2001 after previous coach Skip Foster
accepted the Head Coach position with the Tulsa Talons of the Arena
Football League.
Leiker's first game was in newly-completed Veterans
Memorial Stadium in August of 2001. Although the Ravens lost the first
game played at Veterans Memorial Stadium, he turned around a team that
had gone a combined 9-10 the previous two seasons and led the Ravens to
a 7-4 record, a #15 national ranking, and a win over Navarro, Texas, in
the Heart of Texas Bowl.
His 2004 team finished with a 10-2 record and defeated
Scottsdale, Arizona, in the Valley of the Sun Bowl. The Ravens were
ranked #3 nationally in the final NJCAA poll.
Leiker's 2005 team won the region championship and
played Georgia Military in the Golden Isles Bowl in Brunswick, Georgia.
The 2005 team finished ranked #9, the fourth straight season the Ravens
finished the year ranked in the Top 10 nationally.
Leiker will continue at CCC, to serve as the College’s
Athletic Director. He is not new to this administrative position, as he
was named Co-Athletic Director two years ago.
“Jeff is a valued CCC employee and does a great job
working with our student-athletes and coaching staff,” said College
President Don Woodburn. “His transition to the Athletic Director
position will be good for our College. We are fortunate to have someone
with Jeff’s qualifications and experience to step into this position.”
Leiker is originally from Independence, Kansas. He has
a bachelor’s degree from Washburn University and a master’s degree from
the University of Tennessee. |
