#8 Ravens fall to #3 Blinn CollegeMomma said there would be days like this. Following a 10-hour bus ride to Brenham, Texas and a 3 p.m. kickoff in the hot and humid conditions of southeast Texas, the Ravens dropped a 35-14 decision to the NJCAA defending national champion Blinn Buccaneers on August 25. The Ravens trailed 14-7 at the half and by just 21-14 after the third quarter, but Blinn tacked on two fourth quarter TDs to pull away from Coffeyville. Terrance Cain got the scoring started with a one-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The Ravens answered in the second quarter when QB Dustin Moomau found pay dirt on an eight-yard run. Eric Hronek's extra point knotted the score at 7-7. Zack Booker gave Blinn a 14-7 lead heading into the half when he scored on a 4-yard run. Blinn extended the lead to 21-7 in the third quarter after Booker got loose for a 40-yard TD scamper. Coffeyville answered back on a Todd Cheek 4-yard touchdown run and Hronek extra point, cutting Blinn's lead to seven at 21-14. Blinn put the game away in the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdowns. Nate Guillory rushed for 47 yards on 14 carries for the Ravens and Dustin Lindsey recorded 21 yards on 12 carries. Guillory also had for kickoff returns for 109 yards including a long of 54 yards. QB Dustin Moomau completed 14-of-25 passes for 83 yards and Jordan Daniels was the leading receiver with five catches for 44 yards. Ade' Manga recorded 12 tackles for the Ravens, six solo and six assisted. Manga also forced a fumble and had one QB sack. Sherdeill Breathett recorded 11 tackles, five solo and six assisted. Dominique Roulack had three solo tackles, seven assisted tackles, and two tackles for loss for -5 yards. Trop Epps had a solo tackle, seven assisted tackles, three tackles for loss for -7 yards and two forced fumbles. Larry Ford had a solo tackle and six assisted tackles. Melvin Williams recorded four solo tackles and two assisted tackles. Kunle Kola recorded a solo tackle, four assisted tackles and a tackle for loss for -2 yards, and Kevin Funches had three solo tackles and an assisted tackle. Dwight Tenpenny and Kirk Bromley both had a fumble recovery. Lucas Ortiz punted seven times for a 35.0 yard average and kicker Eric Hronek was 2-for-2 on extra points.
