The Red Ravens got an outstanding defensive effort on Saturday night, but Garden City overcame an early deficit to beat Coffeyville 19-7.  The loss drops the Ravens to 3-3 in KJCCC play and to 4-4 overall on the season.  The Ravens will travel to Dodge City on October 27 for the regular season finale beginning at 7 p.m.  Win or lose, the Ravens will have the number four seed in the Region 6 playoffs and will face Butler in the first round on November 4.  Kickoff will be at 1:30 p.m.

Against Garden City, Nate Guillory rushed for 145 yards on 26 carries including a first quarter touchdown that gave Coffeyville an early 7-0 lead.  Guillory has now rushed for 1,008 yards on the season and for 1,980 yards in his CCC career.

Garden City rebounded to tie the score with 13:47 left in the second quarter when Cameron Kenney hauled in an eight yard pass from Eugene Smith.  Kenney added the extra point.  Kenney serves as a kicker, punter and a wide receiver for the Broncbusters.

Garden City took the lead for good with 3:16 remaining in the first half when Travon Carr returned an interception of Nick Hardesty 37 yards for a touchdown.  The Ravens blocked Kenney's extra point attempt.  The half ended with Garden City up 13-7.  Hardesty's interception was thrown into a wind gusting to 35 miles per hour at times.

The Ravens almost regained the lead early in the third quarter.  Garden City received the kickoff and on a second down play, the Ravens' Kevin Funches forced a fumble by Kenney after a pass completion.  Coffeyville's Ade' Manga recoverd the fumble on the Broncbusters 16 yard line, giving the Ravens a tremendous opportunity.

A first down Guillory rush netted five yards and moved the ball to the 11.  On second down, Guillory rushed the ball to the Garden City five, but Garden City forced a fumble which was recovered by Garden City's Joboa Dixon on the Garden City three yard line.  Guillory and the Ravens sideline thought Guillory was already down before the ball came loose, but the officials determined otherwise.

Garden City was unable to move the ball and punting into the stiff wind, Garden City gave Coffeyville great field position once again on the Garden City 24 yard line.

The Ravens were unable to take advantage and misfired on a fourth down passing play, giving the Broncbusters the ball back on the Garden City 18 yard line.  After a Broncbusters first down, the Ravens defense came up big once again.  With around seven minutes remaining in the quarter, the Ravens forced a fumble by Garden's Maurice Greer.  Coffeyville's Troy Epps recovered the ball on the Garden City 37 yard line.

The Ravens could not muster a prolonged drive and had to settle for a Lucas Ortiz 49 yard field goal attempt with 1:35 left in the third quarter.  A bad snap led to timing problems on the field goal attempt.  Ortiz's kick missed wide left.

Garden City would put the game away with 11:55 left in the fourth quarter when Maurice Greer scored on a 1 yard run.  The two-point conversion attempt failed leaving the margin at 19-7.  However, with the Raven offense going into the wind in the fourth quarter, the offense could not untracked for a comeback attempt.

The Ravens held Garden City to 261 yards of total offense had forced three Broncbuster turnovers on fumbles.  The Ravens netted 175 total yards of offense and committed two turnovers.

Troy Epps had another solid defensive game for the Ravens.  Epps recorded two solo tackles, six assisted tackles, two QB sacks for 17 yards, two QB hurries, a fumble recovery and a blocked kick.
