Ravens place fourth at William Jewell Spring InvitationalThe Red Raven golf team battled Mother Nature at the William Jewell Spring Invitational April 10-11 in Liberty, Missouri, but fought through the elements to place fourth. The Ravens shot a team score of 296 the opening round on April 11. "The guys played a great opening round, shooting the best we have all season," said assistant coach Jamie Fisher. The following day, the players had to compete in rain, sleet, and gusty winds. The Ravens shot 327 in the difficult conditions for a 36 hole total of 623 and a fourth place finish. Indian Hills Community College shot a team score of 582 to run away with the tournament title. Lindenwood University was second with a 610 total and Evangel University placed third with a 618. Individually, Eddie Hall tied for ninth overall. Hall shot rounds of 73 and 78 for a 36 hole total of 151. Kyle Nash tied for 13th with rounds of 73 and 81 for a 154 total and Coffeyville native Kyler Brown tied for 15th with rounds of 74 and 81 for a total of 155. "Overall, I felt we did a fantastic job finishing in fourth since there was only one other two-year school at this tournament and that was Indian Hills and they are ranked third in the nation," said Fisher. "The other teams who played were all four-year institutions." The Ravens end the conference season April 20-22 when they travel to Hutchinson to play in a KJCCC designated tournament at the brand new Cottonwood Hills Golf Course. The Ravens will enter this final conference tournament in fifth place in the KJCCC golf standings. KJCCC Overall Standings Heading Into Final Conference Tournament 1. Hutchinson, 45 points. |
