Ravens place fifth at Turkey Creek tournament

The Red Raven golf team traveled to McPherson, Kansas on April 7 to play in their fifth conference tournament of the season. Coffeyville came into the tournament in a tie for sixth place in the overall conference standings.

The Ravens shot an opening round 308 in the cold and windy weather. Coffeyville native Kyler Brown and Lyle Eddy of Glenpool, Oklahoma, both shot opening rounds 75. Overall, the Ravens ended the round in a fourth place tie with Kansas City.

The afternoon round brought brutal conditions with sleet and rain. The Ravens battled through the rough conditions to shoot a second round team score of 312. Brown and Eddie Hall both posted scores of 77, and Eddy, Brandon Keen, and Kyle Nash all shot second round scores of 79 for the Ravens.

The team finished in fifth place behind Kansas City, Johnson County, Hutchinson, and Dodge City.

“I was proud of our guys this weekend," said assistant coach Jamie Fisher.  "We came into this tournament looking to move up in the conference standings, and we didn’t disappoint.  The guys battled through tough conditions and played their best and came away with some points.”

The Ravens are now all alone in fifth place in the overall season conference standings.

The Ravens will travel to the William Jewell Invitational this Thursday and Friday, April 10-11.  The team will end their conference season at Cottonwood Hills Golf Course in Hutchinson on April 21-22.
