Raven golfers place sixth at KJCCC Designated Tournament in McPherson
The Coffeyville Community College men’s golf team placed sixth at a KJCCC Designated Tournament held Monday in McPherson, Kansas. The tournament was played on the Turkey Creek Golf Course, a 6,282 yard, par 70 layout.
The Ravens shot a team score of 316 on the first 18 and 318 for the second round for a cumulative team score of 634 for the 36-hole tournament. Hutchinson won the tournament with Johnson County and Dodge City finishing second and third, respectively. Kansas City was fourth followed by Barton County and Coffeyville. Allen County finished seventh, Independence eighth, and Colby ninth.
Sophomore Justin Kent was the top individual finisher for Coffeyville. Kent shot rounds of 76 and 79 for a 155 cumulative total, good for 14th. Sophomores Kyle Menie and Jake Cox both finished in 23rd with 36-hole totals of 159. Also competing for Coffeyville were sophomore Dylan Porter and freshman Dwight McElroy.
The Ravens men’s golf team has now completed their fall schedule. The next tournament will be in Junction City, Kansas, on March 29. The women’s golf team will be hosting a KJCCC Designated Tournament on Monday, October 5, at the Coffeyville Country Club.
