Ravens find shooting groove in win over Northwest Mississippi

It's amazing how much better a team looks when shots are falling.  The Ravens, on the strength of 51% shooting, stayed alive in the NJCAA National Men's Basketball Tournament by defeating Northwest Mississippi 77-64 at the Sports Arena in Hutchinson.  The win allows the Ravens to play San Jacinto, Texas, at 1 p.m. Friday, March 24.  The winner of Coffeyville-San Jacinto game will advance to the seventh place game on Saturday. 

The Ravens, 31-5 overall, were led by another double-double from sophomore forward Anthony Slack.  Slack scored 19 points on 9-of-9 shooting from the field and he also pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.  The Ravens out-rebounded Northwest Mississippi by a 43-31 margin and also held the Rangers to 39% shooting from the floor.  Also hitting double-figures for the Ravens were Boo Richardson and Barry Eberhardt with 13 points each.  Richardson also had a game-high seven assists for the Ravens.  As a team, the Ravens had 19 assists compared to just four for the Rangers.

Adrian Banks had 33 points for the Rangers, but the Ravens made him work hard for the points.  Banks shot 9-of-21 from the field, including four three-pointers and he was also 11-of-16 from the charity stripe.  Shawn Morgan added 11 points for the Rangers who trailed the Ravens 39-23 at the half.
