#11 Ravens win defensive battle over Grizzlies

A win is a win, is a win, is a win.  It failed to be pretty, but the Red Ravens did manage to win a defensive battle in first round Region 6 action over the Butler County Grizzlies on Wednesday night, 52-45, at Nellis Hall in Coffeyville.  The Ravens, 27-4 on the season, trailed by as many as eight in the first half, but a late run gave the Ravens a 28-24 lead into halftime.  Coffeyville was able to stretch the lead to as many as 10 in the second half and held on for a seven point win.  Daniel Payne had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Ravens and Barry Eberhardt added 16 points.  Payne was also 5-of-8 from three-point range.  No other Raven scored more than four points.  The Ravens held Butler to 33% shooting from the field and also forced 18 Grizzly turnovers.  Butler out-rebounded the Ravens by a 34-32 margin, an issue of concern for the Ravens heading into region games at Wichita.

The Ravens will play in Region 6 second round action on Sunday, March 11.  The Ravens will play Garden City at 7 p.m. at the Koch Arena on the campus of Wichita State University.  Garden City was a 71-69 winner over Cowley on Wednesday night.
