Payne provides pain for Garden City in 63-54 winIt was a tale of two halves Sunday night for the Ravens in second round action at the Region 6 Tournament in Wichita. The first half was nightmarish for the Ravens. Leading scorers Barry Eberhardt and Daniel Payne spent most of the half on the bench with foul trouble and both went scoreless for the first twenty minutes. The Ravens shot just 24% from the field in the first half and went a miserable 2-of-19 from beyond the three-point arc. However, Garden City failed to maximize on the Ravens' misery and led by only nine, 27-18 at the half. The second half would be a different story. The Ravens shot an even 50% from the field in the second half and Daniel Payne caught fire from three-point range, hitting four in the second half including three in the first five minutes of the second half to spark the Ravens. Payne finished with a team-high 18 points, including 6-of-7 free throws in the second half. Barry Eberhardt added 12 second half points and J.J. Seymore scored 13 for the Ravens. The Ravens outscored Garden City 45-27 in the second half on the way to a 63-54 win. The Ravens defense came up big once again. The Ravens held the Broncbusters to 32% shooting from the field on the game. The Broncbusters made just 2-of-22 attempts from three-point range. Both teams struggled with turnovers. Coffeyville turned the ball over 24 times while the Broncbusters coughed the ball up 18 times. The Ravens, 28-4 overall on the season, will advance to the Region 6 semi-finals on Monday. The Ravens will play Cloud County at 7 p.m. in the Charles Koch Arena on the campus of Wichita State University. The winner of this game will play the winner of the Barton County-Dodge City game on Tuesday for the Region 6 Championship. Garden City-Coffeyville Boxscore
