Ravens defeat NEO 95-88 in Border Battle renewal

After a one-year hiatus, Coffeyville and NEO renewed the basketball version of the Border Battle.  Round one of the 2006-2007 goes to the Ravens after they held off NEO for a 95-88 win Tuesday night in Nellis Hall.  The Ravens used superior perimeter shooting to move their record to 2-0 on the season.  The Ravens shot 52% from the field for the game including a 12-of-30 effort from the land of three.  NEO shot an impressive 57% from the field for the game, but struggled from beyond the arc, making just 1-of-16 three-point attempts.

Aaron Jackson led four Ravens in double-figures with 19 points.  Barry Eberhardt added 17 points.  Brandon Kennedy scored 14 and Papa Oppong added 13 for the Ravens, who led 49-40 at halftime.

Tremaine Luellen scored 28 points and Dominique Gaines added 22 to lead NEO.  John Boyd also hit double-figures with 12 points.

The Ravens are back in action on Nov. 10-11 when they host the Bricktown Tournament in Nellis Hall.  Pratt and Neosho County will kick off action on Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. followed by the Ravens and Newman University JV at 7 p.m.  On Nov. 11, the Newman University JV will face Neosho County at 5 p.m. followed by Pratt and Coffeyville at 7 p.m.
