Men's soccer team places second at indoor tournament

The Red Raven men's soccer team placed second in the Hesston College Intercollegiate Indoor Soccer Tournament held on February 16 in Hesston, Kansas.

In pool play, the Ravens defeated host Hesston 4-1, Allen County 1-0, Kansas City Community College 4-1, and Central Christian 3-1.  The Ravens 4-0 record placed the team first in Pool B and advanced them to the tournament semi-finals.

In the semi-final match, the Ravens faced Allen County for the second time on the day.  Allen County emerged from the loser's bracket to make the semi-final round.  The Ravens won the physical match 3-2.

In the championship match, the Ravens faced Bethel College.  Bethel scored four goals in the first five minutes to take a commanding lead.

"The guys showed a lot of character and mounted a serious comeback, pulling back three goals in the last 15 minutes," said Ravens Head Coach Courey Feerer.  The comeback was not enough as Bethel won the match 6-3.

"The boys played well throughout the course of the day," said Feerer.  "The Bethel game was the first time we had faced any adversity during the whole tournament.  At any rate, they did well enough for a nice second place showing."

For the tournament, Israel Bisoni scored five goals to lead the Ravens offensively.  Lucas Joanny, Ralph Faria, and Jeremiah West scored three goals each.  Leandro Foscaches and Rodolfo Lucas were credited with two goals apiece.
