Men's soccer defeats Western Nebraska 2-0; women tie in double-overtimeThe soccer teams hosted Western Nebraska Community College this Sunday, September 30. The women walked into the competition looking for a victory against a tough opponent. The game went into double overtime ending in a 0-0 tie. The women’s soccer team was lead by the great play of Hannah Harrison who made some critical saves throughout the game. Harrison made one huge key save in the first half where she knocked it out of the top of the goal. The women are now 7-5-1 on the season. The men’s soccer team came into the day desperately needing a victory to propel them into this week’s games against tough opponents. The Ravens didn’t disappoint they got the 2-0 shutout victory in a hard fought game. Freshman forward Jesse Welsh scored his first college goal in the first half and Brandon Wallace, a sophomore mid-fielder from Kansas City, Kansas scored the Ravens second half goal. The Raven men improved to 5-5-2 overall on the season. The Ravens are road warriors for the next week, playing at Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa on October 2 and at Allen County on October 4. The next home game is October when the Ravens host Neosho County with the women playing at 5 p.m. and the men following at 7 p.m. |
