Raven track team competes at Cowley Snoball

The Red Raven track team traveled to Arkansas City on February 13 and competed in the Cowley Snoball.  Although the meet is part of the indoor track season, the meet took place outdoors on a balmy 50 degree day.

The Ravens had several top five finishes at the meet.  For the women, Gabby Mask finished second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.89 seconds.  She was followed by two other Raven runners: Brandy Simpson who finished third (8.02 seconds) and Demica Robinson (8.03 seconds).

In the 60 meter hurdles, Simpson placed first (10.15 seconds) and Robinson was second (12.04 seconds).

In the high jump, Simpson placed first with a leap of 1.48 meters.  Samantha Howell was second in the pole vault with a jump of 2.60 meters.  In the long jump, Mask was fourth with a jump of 5.21 meters, followed by Tarayla Merriweather who placed fifth (5.05 meters).

Septembra Teuscher was fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 10.96 meters.

For the Raven men, Rashad Cannon sprinted to a second place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.90 seconds.  Cannon Ramon Harris placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.20 seconds.

The Ravens dominated the men's 400 meter dash.  Harris placed first with a time of 50.44 seconds.  He was followed by second place finisher DJ Bland with a time of 51.52 seconds.  Geoffrey Sygay was fourth with a time of 52.56 seconds.

In the 800 meter run, Seth Freeman finished third (2:04.56) and Isaiah sack was fourth (2:05.78). 

The Ravens were the top two finishers in the 3,000 meter run.  David Tindall placed first with a time of 11:08.69 followed by Nate Rowe (11:38.22).

Dustin Schull placed first in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.96 seconds.  Schull was the fifth place finisher in the 1,000 meter run, tied for third in the high jump (1.83 meters) and fourth in the long jump (5.83 meters).  Cannon had the longest distance in the long jump with a leap of 7.30 meters.

Tell Wyrick placed third in the shot put with a throw of 12.87 meters.

The Ravens will compete in the Region 6 Indoor Championships this Saturday and Sunday, February 23 and 24, in Manhattan, Kansas.  The National Indoor Meet will follow in a couple of weeks, March 7-8, at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.
