Schull and Simpson compete at Cowley Multi'sDustin Schull and Brandy Simpson both competed in the Cowley Multi's on April 14-15, and both athletes performed well. Schull competed in his first decathlon and finished with 4,744 points. Schull set a personal best time in the 100 meter high hurdles, 16.90 seconds, and had a personal best throw in the shot put, 8.27 meters or 27'1.75". Schull ran the 400 meter dash in 56.14 seconds, ran 5:00.97 in the 1,500 meter run, and pole vaulted 2.74 meters or 8'11.75". Schull jumped 1.77 meters, or 5'9.5", in the high jump and 5.82 meters, or 19'1.25", in the long jump. In the 100 meter dash, he had a time of 12.37 seconds. In the final two field events, he had a throw of 30.74 meters, or 100'10", in the javelin and threw the discus 20.56 meters, or 67'5.25". With his total score, Schull is currently ranked #13 in the nation. Simpson competed in her first heptathlon and finished with a total of 3,689 points. Simpson started the day with a personal best performance in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.41 seconds. She also debuted in the 200 meter dash, finishing with a time of 27.13 seconds. Simpson jumped 1.45 meters, or 4'9.25" in the high jump, threw 8.08 meters (26'6.25") in the shot put, jumped 4.94 meters (16'2.5") in the long jump, threw the javelin 28.72 meters (94'2.5"), and ran the 800 meters in 3:00.93. "Brandy is currently seventh in the nation and the top 16 at the end of the outdoor season will qualify for the NJCAA National Meet," said assistant coach Heather Schmidt. The Ravens next meet will be April 26 at the Southwestern Relay. The Ravens will host the Region 6 meet on May 1-3 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. |
