Ravens battle Mother Nature at Mule RelaysThe Raven track team battled the elements at the Mule Relays on April 18 at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri. Despite the conditions, the Ravens turned in some outstanding performances. For the men, Tell Wyrick, a freshman from Caney, had a personal best throw in the discus of 44.06 meters, or 144' 7". He also had a personal best in the hammer throw with a heave of 39.48 meters, or 129' 6". Jarve Dean had a personal best in the hammer throw with a toss of 32.11 meters, or 105' 4". DJ Bland took sixth place overall with a personal best in the javelin with a throw of 44.04 meters, 144' 6". Isaiah Slack, a sophomore from Independence, Kansas, placed sixth overall in the 1,500 meter run, establishing a personal best time of 4:29.46. Rob Gault finished seventh overall in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:33.26. Dustin Schull set a personal best time in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:58.82, and Nate Rowe set a personal best in the 1,500 meter, finishing in 5:00.29. Chris Gravley placed eighth overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.60 seconds. For the women, Septembra Teuscher finished third overall in the javelin with a throw of 36.44 meters, or 119' 7". Brandy Simpson placed fifth overall in the 100 meter hurdles, completing the race in 16.68 seconds. In the 100 meter dash, Demica Robinson finished sixth and Gabby Mask placed eighth. Robinson ran the race in 12.86 seconds and Mask in 12.90 seconds. The Ravens will compete in the Southwestern College Invitation on Saturday in Winfield, Kansas.
