Twelve Red Raven athletes will represent Coffeyville Community College in the NJCAA National Outdoor Track and Field Championships this coming weekend.  The track meet, hosted this year by South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, will begin on Thursday and conclude on Saturday. [more]

Coffeyville Community College hosted the Region 6 Outdoor Track Meet on May 1-3 at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Coffeyville.  Results are available.

Seven Raven athletes compete at Southwestern Invitational

A group of seven athletes competed for the Red Ravens at the Southwestern Invitational on April 26.  Freshman Septembra Teuscher continued her strong season in the women's javelin, winning the meet with a throw of 119' 8".  Freshman Brandy Simpson took eighth place in the javelin with a throw of 99'.  She also threw 25' 4.75" in the shot put. Cannon places second in long jump at KU Relays

NJCAA Indoor All-American Rashad Cannon continues to impress this track season.  His latest effort was a second place finish in the long jump at the KU Relays on April 19.  Cannon, a freshman, earned second with a best lifetime outdoor jump of 7.52 meters, or 24' 8.25".  [more]

Ravens battle Mother Nature at Mule Relays

The Raven track team battled the elements at the Mule Relays on April 18 at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.  Despite the conditions, the Ravens turned in some outstanding performances. [more]

Schull and Simpson compete at Cowley Multi's

Dustin Schull and Brandy Simpson both competed in the Cowley Multi's on April 14-15, and both athletes performed well.  Schull is currently ranked #13 in the nation and Simpson is ranked #7. [more]

Dean Pryor Invitational: Merriweather sets school record in triple jump; men's 4 x 100 meter relay qualifies for nationals

Tarayla Merriweather set a new school record in the triple jump Saturday afternoon at the Dean Pryor Invitational held at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Coffeyville.  Merriweather recorded a jump of 11.29 meters (37'.5") to win the event for the Ravens.  The Ravens also had a national qualifying time from the men's 4x100 meter relay team.  The quartet of Dravis Lawson, Trentell Bottley, Ramon Harris and Rashad Cannon won the event with a time of 42.14 seconds. Rashad CannonCannon makes All-American in long jump and triple jump

Until his junior year in high school, Coffeyville Community College freshman Rashad Cannon had never competed on a school track team.  Three years later, Cannon achieved All-American status at the NJCAA Indoor National Track Meet held recently in Charleston, Illinois.

Cannon recorded a jump of 7.55 meters (24' 09.25") in the long jump, finishing just 2.5" behind national champion Jeff Henderson of Hinds Community College (Mississippi).  In the triple jump, Cannon jumped a distance of 14.39 meters (47' 02.50").  [more]

Teushcer and Cannon take first at Cowley Invitational

Two Red Raven athletes took first place in their respective events at the Cowley Invitational on March 29 in Arkansas City, Kansas.  Septembra Teuscher placed first in the women's javelin and Rashad Cannon took first in the men's long jump.

Teuscher, a freshman from Paola, Kansas, threw the javelin 126' 10" to win first by over ten feet.  Cannon won the long jump by three inches, posting a distance of 24' 5.50".  Cannon, a freshman from Richmond, Virginia, was an All-American in the long jump during the indoor season. [more]

Outdoor track season opens with Southwestern Invitational

The Red Raven track team opened the 2008 outdoor season by competing at the Southwestern Invitational on March 13.  Two athletes, Demica Robinson and Septembra Teuscher qualified for nationals during the meet.

Robinson qualified for nationals in the 400 meter hurdles by finishing the event in 1:08.07.

"The qualifying mark for this event is 1:09.08," said assistant coach Heather Schmidt.  Robinson's time was good for third place at the Southwestern meet.

Teushcer qualified for nationals in the javelin by throwing for a season best 121' 05".  The qualifying mark for the javelin is 119' 10".

"Septembra took first place overall at the meet, finishing nearly two feet ahead of the second place finisher," said Schmidt. [more]

Cannon places in long jump and triple jump at indoor national meet

Freshman Rashad Cannon placed second in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump at the 2008 NJCAA Indoor National Track Meet held in Charleston, Illinois on March 7-8.  Cannon was the lone Raven to place at the national meet, and he recorded enough points to allow the Raven men's track team to place 17th overall.

Cannon was also named to the All-American team in both the long jump and triple jump.   [more]

Eight Ravens and men's relay team to represent CCC at national indoor meet

Eight Red Raven track athletes and the men's 4 x 800 relay team have qualified for the indoor national meet to be held on March 7-8 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.

Several Ravens compete at Cowley meet

Several Ravens took advantage of a warm day on Feb. 29 to compete at a meet hosted by Cowley College in Arkansas City.  Although the meet was held outdoors, it counts toward the indoor season.

Former Raven Julius Walker wins Big 12 title

Former Raven sprinter Julius Walker won the Big 12 title on March 1 in the indoor 60 meter dash.  Walker, running for Texas Tech, will compete at the NCAA national meet later in March and is one of the favorites to win the national title.  Walker, as a Raven sophomore last season, won the NJCAA national title in the indoor 60 meter dash.

Men and women track teams both finish 8th at indoor region meet

The Red Raven track teams competed at the Region 6 Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-24 and both the men and women placed eighth in their respective divisions.

Raven track team competes at Cowley Snoball

The Red Raven track team traveled to Arkansas City on February 13 and competed in the Cowley Snoball.  Although the meet is part of the indoor track season, the meet took place outdoors on a balmy 50 degree day.

Raven track team competes at Mule Relays

The Red Raven indoor track team competed at the University of Central Missouri Mule Relays on February 7-8.  The Ravens had several notable performances at the meet.

Raven track team competes at Iowa State Open; Cannon wins long jump

The Red Raven track team competed against a large field of teams including several NCAA and NAIA schools at the Iowa State Open, January 25-26, in Ames, Iowa.  Despite several athletes battling illnesses, the Ravens improved on their times and distances from the first indoor meet a week earlier at Johnson County.

Rashad Cannon took first place honors in the men's long jump.  Cannon's best jump was 7.14 meters (23' 5.25"). Also placing in the top 10 was Tarayla Merriweather who finished ninth in women's triple jump and Gabby Mask who placed tenth in the women's long jump.  Merriweather had a triple jump of 10.88 meters (35' 8.5") and Mask recorded a long jump of 5.31 meters (17' 5.25"). Three Raven track athletes qualify for nationals at Johnson County triangular

The Coffeyville Community College track team began the indoor season with a triangular hosted by Johnson County on January 19, and three Raven athletes wasted little time qualifying for nationals.

Freshman Rashad Cannon placed second in the long jump, but his distance of 7.30 meters (23' 11.5") was good enough to qualify for the indoor national meet to be held March 7-8 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.  Two female athletes also qualified for the national meet.

Freshman Tarayla Merriweather placed first in the triple jump with a national-qualifying distance of 11.01 meters (36' 1.5").  Also qualifying was Freshman Gabby Mask in the long jump.  Mask jumped a distance of 5.42 meters (17' 9.5"), good for first place in the triangular. [more]
