#18 Red Ravens defeat Fort Scott, move to 14-4The #18 nationally-ranked Red Raven volleyball team improved to 14-4 overall and to 3-1 in conference play with a clean sweep at Fort Scott on September 19. The Ravens defeated the Greyhounds in three straight games by the scores of 30-27, 30-21, and 30-18. Topeka sophomore Katy Bowen led the team with 40 assists, 10 digs, and three aces on the night. Sophomore Morgan Wyatt added a double-double with 10 digs and 10 kills. She also recorded four aces. Nortonville, Kansas sophomore Stephanie Seichepine had two aces, six blocks and 15 kills out of 22 attempts. "She was a monster at the net," said head volleyball coach Delice Downing. Sophomore Victoria Thomas recorded 12 kills and three blocks. Jessica Giesen led the defense with 10 digs and Jessica Delinger added seven digs. The Ravens will play this Friday and Saturday at a tournament hosted by Johnson County Community College. "Every team in this tournament is nationally recognized," said Downing. The Ravens first match will be at 5 p.m. Friday against #19 North Platte. The Ravens will return home on September 24 when they host a triangular beginning at 3 p.m. in Nellis Hall. The Ravens will take on Northern Oklahoma-Enid at 3 p.m. The 5 p.m. match pits Northern Oklahoma-Enid and Longview College. The final match of the night, scheduled for 7 p.m., will feature Coffeyville and Longview College. |
