Divas win back-to-back home matches, improve to 5-1The Red Raven volleyball team won back-to-back home matches on August 28 and August and improved to 5-1 on the season. On August 28, the Ravens hammered the Mid America Nazarene JV three games to zip (30-9, 30-8, 30-13). "Everyone had the opportunity to see the floor against Mid America and that is always exciting to get all your players in," said Head Coach Delice Downing. On August 29, the Ravens defeated intra-county rival Independence three games to none. The Ravens won the first game 30-26. In the second game, the Ravens trailed by as many as 13 points before storming back to beat the Pirates 30-27. The Ravens closed the match out by winning the third game 30-24. Tagata Fo'a had 40 assists and five aces for the Ravens against Independence. Victoria Thomas hammered home 14 kills and she was also 100% from the service line. Jessica Seichepine led the offense with 16 kills in 28 chances and just two errors with a .500 hitting percentage. Morgan Wyatt added nine kills, nine digs and two solo blocks. Katy Bowen had three solo blocks and five kills out of 12 chances. She also had nine digs and two aces. Jessica Giesen led the defense with 13 digs. The Ravens travel to Iola, Kansas on September 1 for a tournament hosted by Allen County Community College. The Ravens first match will be at 10:15 a.m. against Hesston College.
