Ravens volleyball team nears school record for wins

The Red Raven volleyball team is nearing a school record for wins following a busy week of action.  The Ravens currently have a 29-12 overall record, just one win from tying the school record set by the 1999 team coached by DeAnna Campbell.  The 1999 team finished the season with a 30-24 overall record.

The Ravens earned win number 29 by defeating NEO A & M on Monday night in Nellis Hall.  The Ravens won the first game of the match 30-18, but NEO came back to win the second game 30-23.  The Ravens dominated the final two games by the scores of 30-15 and 30-20 to take the match.

This past weekend, October 12-13, the Ravens traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, for the DMACC Tournament.  The Ravens split four matches, defeating Neosho County and North Dakota School of Science, and losing matches to Longview College and Des Moines Area Community College.

On the way to Des Moines, the Ravens stopped in Olathe, Kansas, and gave a noogie to the Mid America Nazarene University JV team.  The Ravens won in three games by the scores of 30-20, 30-21, and 30-19.

Before embarking on their trip, the Ravens dropped a home district match to Neosho County.  The Ravens dropped the first two games, 30-21 and 30-22, before storming back to take the next two, 30-20 and 30-23.  In the fifth and deciding game, Neosho County held off the Ravens, 15-10, to take the match.

The Ravens are 29-12 overall, 4-3 in conference play, and 2-3 in district play. The Ravens are on the road on Wednesday, October 17, when they face Labette in Parsons.  First serve is at 6:30 p.m.

The Ravens return home for a triangular on Saturday, October 20.  The Ravens will face Pratt at 2 p.m.  The 4 p.m. match pits Pratt against the William Woods University JV.  At 6 p.m., the Ravens will play the William Woods JV.  All home matches are played in Nellis Hall.

The Ravens final regular season match will be October 24 against Highland.  First serve in Nellis Hall will be at 6 p.m.
