Ravens win two of three road matches

The Red Raven volleyball team have been road warriors for the past two weeks, but it hasn't affected their winning ways.  The #14 Red Ravens, 11-3 on the season, have won two of their last three road matches, starting with a victory at Kansas City on September 5.  The Ravens dropped the first game 28-30, but rebounded to win the second game 30-24.  The Ravens fell 25-30 in game three, but won a pivotal fourth game, 30-28, to force a deciding fifth game.  The Ravens pulled away for a 15-7 win in the deciding game to win the match.

Jessica Seichepine led the team with 20 kills and 16 digs.  Katy Bowen also had a double-double with 13 kills and 18 digs to go along with a hitting percentage of .306.  Jessica Giesen led the back court with 22 digs and Tagata Fo'a led the team's offense with 44 assists.

CCC then ventured to Miami, Oklahoma for a match with the Golden Norsemen on September 10.  The Ravens were thumped in the first game 15-30, but rebounded by winning the next three games by the scores of 30-27, 30-18, and 30-27.  Fo'a recorded 39 assists in the match.  Bowen and Morgan Wyatt both had double-doubles.  Bowen had 12 kills and 12 digs with Wyatt adding 15 kills and 17 digs.

The Ravens traveled to Arkansas City on September 12 and lost a match to the Tigers in four games.  The Ravens won the first game 30-16, but dropped the next two  by the scores of 23-30 and 28-30.  The teams then played an extended fourth game with the Tigers finally winning, 38-40.

Seichepine had a great night with 20 kills, 21 digs, two aces and four blocks.  Victoria Thomas led the defense at the net with 10 digs and 10 monster blocks.  "She missed a triple-double by one kill," said head coach Delice Downing.

Giesen had a team-high 25 digs.  Fo'a added 40 assists and 15 digs and Wyatt recorded 21 digs.

The Ravens stay on the road for the next several matches.  The Ravens will be at El Dorado on September 14 for a match starting against Butler at 6:30 p.m.  The Ravens then travel to Dodge City for a triangular on September 15.  The Ravens first match will be at 1 p.m. against host Dodge City.  The Ravens return home on September 24 for a triangular beginning at 3 p.m.
