| The game wasn't pretty at times, but the Lady
Ravens improved to 4-1 in conference play and to 12-5 overall in a
hard-fought and occasionally bloody 76-64 victory over Kansas City on
Wednesday night.
The Lady Ravens and Blue Devils fought to a 31-31 halftime draw and the game was still tied, 54-54, with 6:26 left in regulation. That was when sophomores Andrea Dill and Becky Gibson stepped up with some key shots to lead the Ravens on a 22-10 run that sealed the win for the Lady Ravens. Down the deciding stretch, Gibson scored nine points and Dill six for Coffeyville. For the game, Gibson scored 17 and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to lead the Lady Ravens and Dill added 16. Whitnee Miller also scored 16 for Coffeyville. Kansas City was led by Stephanie Brown's 22 points and 11 rebounds and Ashley Birch added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Blue Devils. Kansas City shot 46% from the field for the game compared to just 37% for the Lady Ravens, but the Lady Blue Devils committed 30 turnovers for the game. Coffeyville also out-rebounded Kansas City 50 to 42 and the Lady Ravens held a commanding advantage from the free throw line, making 14-of-22 versus 5-of-9 for Kansas City. The Lady Ravens hit the road to Ft. Scott on Saturday for a 6 p.m. contest. The Lady Ravens are at Cowley County on Jan. 26 for a 6 p.m. game before returning home to host Neosho County at 6 p.m. on Jan. 29. |
