| Whitnee Miller scored 21 points and Marquita
Thompson added 17 points and 15 rebounds as the Lady Ravens stormed back
from a 36-25 halftime deficit to defeat the Lady Cardinals 68-60 in an
important KJCCC match-up on Wednesday night. The victory improves
the Lady Ravens to 10-3 in conference play, 1/2 game behind second
Labette, now 11-3 in conference. The Lady Ravens trailed 43-28 early on in the second half before mounting a 17-2 run to tie the score at 45-45. The Lady Ravens took their first lead at 53-52 with 7:53 remaining on two Thompson free throws. The lead see-sawed before Coffeyville took the lead for good at the 2:27 mark on a Thompson put back of a missed Becky Gibson free throw, giving the Lady Ravens a 61-60 lead. Thompson scored 10 points, including 8-of-9 from the free throw line, in the final eight minutes of the game. Miller added a lay-up at the 1:25 mark to increase the margin to 63-60. Thompson sank four free throws and Gibson added one in the final 45 seconds to make the final margin 68-60, capping off a 9-0 Lady Raven run to close out the game. The Lady Ravens, now 18-7 overall, travel to Kansas City on Saturday. The Lady Ravens return home on Feb. 23 to face Fort Scott. General admission tickets will be offered two for the price of one for the Fort Scott game. Game time is at 6 p.m. The final regular season home game will be Feb. 26 when the Lady Ravens host Cowley at 6 p.m. Cowley, undefeated in conference play, leads the KJCCC east by three games. |
