Ravens advance to Wichita with 65-50 win over HutchinsonIt was closer than the scored indicated. While that statement is a sports cliché, it is an appropriate description for Coffeyville's 65-50 win over Hutchinson on Wednesday night in the first round of the Region 6 tournament. The Ravens led 30-25 at the half in a pace slowed by Hutchinson's deliberate offensive attack. Hutchinson hung close to the Ravens and pulled ahead by one, 45-44 with 10:04 remaining the game. The Ravens, though, regained the momentum and went on a 7-0 run started by an Azzie Knox field goal on an assist by Felicia Herring. Hutchinson would get no closer than four points the rest of the way and the Ravens pulled away late to post a 65-50 win. Shyvon Spears had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Ravens. Spears also had five blocked shots. Azzie Knox added 15 points and Ashley Coleman scored 10 points. The Ravens were an impressive 21-for-28 from the free throw line and they turned the ball over just 11 times. Hutchinson committed 19 turnovers on the game and were just 12-for-22 from the line. The Ravens will play at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, in the second round of the Region 6 tournament. All remaining tournament games will be played at Charles Koch Arena on the campus of Wichita State University. The Ravens will play Cloud County, a 79-50 winner over Fort Scott in round one.
