Ravens defeat Labette 65-59 to pull into first place tie in KJCCCThe Red Ravens needed a win Wednesday night to keep hopes of winning a conference championship alive. The Ravens' hopes remain alive after defeating conference leader Labette 65-59 in Nellis Hall. With the win, Coffeyville and Labette pull into a first place tie in the KJCCC East. Both teams have a 15-2 conference mark. Azzie Knox scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Ravens attack, and Shyvon Spears also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Sade Bowen added 13 points, including a 9-of-12 effort from the free throw line. Surprisingly, all of Bowen's free throw attempts came in the first half. The Ravens' defense contained Labette's Wintonia Hart to 19 points on 6-of-20 shooting from the field. The conference regular season winds down on Saturday, March 4. The Ravens, 21-8 overall, travel to Arkansas City to face Cowley at 6 p.m. Cowley is 9-8 in conference play. Labette ends the regular season at winless Highland. |
