#14 Ravens hammer Pirates, 64-33A stifling Red Raven defense held Independence to just 24% shooting from the field and forced 26 turnovers by the Pirates on the way to a 64-33 thrashing on Saturday night at Nellis Hall. The Ravens improved to 27-3 overall on the season and they finish KJCCC East play with a 17-1 record. The Ravens are three wins away from tying the all-time win record for women's basketball at CCC. The 1998 team finished the year with a 30-7 record. The Ravens will host Garden City at 6 p.m. on March 7 in a first round Region 6 playoff game at Nellis Hall. Garden City will enter with one win on the season. A win would advance the Ravens to the Region 6 Tournament which will be held in Wichita, March 10-13. Against the Pirates, the Ravens got 11 points each from Brittany Rochelle, Megan Klingler and Shyvon Spears. Syeeda Echols scored eight points, and Lacie Ward, Asaiah Lowe and Sade Bowen scored six points each. Jolene Tamboue scored seven points to lead the Pirates.
