Gordon inks with ETSU

 

When Tarita Gordon moved with her family from Jamaica to the United States as a ten-year-old, soccer, not basketball, was her passion.  Ten years later as a graduating sophomore from Coffeyville Community College, basketball is helping to pay her way to a four-year college degree. [more]

Taja Green signs with Univ. of Tampa

 

Coffeyville Community College women’s basketball standout Taja Green signed a letter-on-intent on April 20 with the University of Tampa, a NCAA Division II institution in Florida. [more]

Bufford and Manuel sign with SWC

 

Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, signed two Coffeyville Community College women’s basketball players.  Point guard Allie Bufford and shooting guard Jasmine Manuel both inked with the Lady Builders at a signing ceremony on April 20. [more]

Lady Ravens hold off Butler, 80-70, advance to Wichita

 

The Lady Ravens overcame an early deficit and cruised to an 80-70 win over the Butler Lady Grizzlies in the first round of the Region 6 playoffs on Tuesday night.  Erin Boyd scored 18 points to lead the Ravens attack and Sheay Longstaff added 16 points.  Arrienne Smith scored 12 points and Lexi Hileman added 11 points for the Ravens.  Abby Fawcett scored 20 points to lead Butler.

 

The Lady Ravens, 22-9 overall, advance to the Region 6 Tournament at the Koch Arena on the campus of Wichita State University.  The Ravens will play Seward County on Friday night at 7 p.m.  Seward County will enter with a 29-2 record on the year.

The Lady Ravens hung tough with the #13 ranked team in the country, but a strong effort wasn’t enough as Seward County defeated Coffeyville 80-69 on Friday night at the Region 6 Tournament in Wichita.  Tasha Cannon scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Lady Ravens.  Britnee Foster and Erin Boyd scored 12 points each for Coffeyville.  Rachel Barnes scored 27 points to lead Seward County.  Coffeyville ends the year with a 22-10 overall record.

Lady Ravens garner post-season awards

 

Two Lady Ravens were named to the KJCCC All-Conference Team following the 2009-2010 season.  Sophomore Tasha Cannon was named to the second team and sophomore Sheay Longstaff was selected as honorable mention.  Cannon led the Ravens in scoring and rebounding, averaging 11.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.  Longstaff averaged 9.6 points per game and shot 39.4% from the three-point line (71-for-180) this past season.  Cannon was also named to the Region 6 All-Tournament Team.  Cannon scored 24 points and grabbed 22 rebounds in two region tournament games.
