The Columbus Technical Campus of Coffeyville Community College presented 19 National Career Readiness Certificates (NCRC) to our graduating post-secondary students.

National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) is a portable credential that demonstrates achievement and a certain level of workplace employability skills in Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. The NCRC gives individuals proof that they possess the skills employers deem essential to workplace success. This improves career outcomes for everyone from people just entering the workforce to longtime employees—and it enhances employers’ hiring, training, and promotion decisions. The NCRC is accepted nationwide by more 10,000 employers as a reliable way to verify individuals’ skills.

Nineteen students of CCC Columbus earned a total of 5 bronze, 11 silver, and 3 gold certificates. Many companies base their pay scale on the level of certificate achieved thus earning the employee a better wage. The test was administered through the partnership with CCC and the Eastern Kansas Adult Education Consortium. Course instruction and preparation was delivered through CCC by Kari Soper and Charlene Hunley, A-OK coordinator. “It’s so nice to see students become successful through this partnership. The students worked very hard to obtain their certificates and they are anxious to go to work and show their employers what they are capable of,” states Soper.
