Prospective and Current Student FAQ

I think my family probably makes too much money to get a Pell Grant.  Should I apply?

Yes, because the Pell Grant is only one form of financial aid, and to receive any other types of assistance (i.e. college work study jobs, student loans) you must apply to establish your eligibility.

What is the cost of housing?

Our housing contract includes room and board.   The 18-meal plan includes three meals a day, Monday through Friday, two on Saturday and one on Sunday.  Current costs are available at this link.

Can my parents call and request my grades and/or transcript?

The 1974 Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act prevents the release of this information to any third party without the student’s written consent.  Students may file a written release in the Registrar’s Office for the release of this information.

I took CCC courses while in high school.  Do I already have a college transcript at CCC?

Yes.  Course work taken while attending Field Kindley or Caney High School, for example, is posted to your CCC transcript at the close of the semester that the course is completed.

I took college courses at a school other than CCC while in high school.  How do I get those courses/grades on my CCC transcript?

You will need to contact the college where the course work was completed and request that they forward an official copy of your transcript to the CCC registrar.

When will I find out if I have been accepted to attend CCC?

Letters are normally mailed the end of February to those who applied for admission.  During March, April and May, letters will be sent weekly.  Enrollment for incoming freshmen will begin in April; a precise date will be announced.

Will CCC classes transfer to four-year schools?

CCC’s advisors work hard to keep up on current transfer information.  If you work closely with your advisors, and if you decide early on a major and your transfer university, you will have a successful transfer experience.

Do you schedule campus visits?

I get social security which will stop when I graduate from high school.  Must I report the entire amount I received, even though it doesn’t reflect the true picture?

You should call the financial aid office (620-252-7357) to get help with this problem.

If I am injured when participating in an athletic event, will CCC file with my parents’ insurance?

No, CCC does not file claims with the parents’ insurance company.  When a student/athlete is taken to a doctor or hospital, the athlete’s insurance information is given to the doctor or hospital to file with the parents’ insurance company.  CCC carries secondary insurance only.
