News Release: Red Raven Open House Set for Nov.7Coffeyville Community College (CCC) will open its doors to high school students, their families and the public from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7. Most areas of the College including CCC’s two technical campuses will be represented at the Open House. Prospective students will have the opportunity to speak with faculty members as well as current students and gain hands-on experience in a variety of potential careers. CCC will host 18 interactive booths in a variety of areas of study for students and the community to visit and try out. The athletic training department will have taping tables and plenty of supplies for a short lesson in treating injuries. Athletes from 11 sports will represent their teams, sign baseball cards and show off their skills. The cameras will roll at the Broadcast booth as Red Raven reporters interview visitors. The CCC-Columbus Campus will be represented at a construction booth as well as the auto service team. The math/science department will bring out popular experiments for students to learn from while the horticulture and agriculture departments will present all things live. The CCC Emergency Services department will heat things up with a fire science display as well as the automated external defibrillator. The clay will fly at the art department pottery demonstration. Business Professionals of America will create t-shirts for lucky visitors and the computer networking department from the Coffeyville Technical Campus will demonstrate a network system. Welding will make the sparks fly with aluminum cans. The auto body students will show off their pin striping while the international students test visitor’s wordly knowledge. Things will spark with the electrical department and games will be played by everyone at the theatre demonstration. The web design department will show off their stuff as well. Visitors will enjoy demonstrations by the dance team, instrumental music department, cheer team and choral music groups. Snacks will be provided for all visitors. Financial aid representatives will be on hand to answer questions, spring short course information will be available and the Red Raven Adult Education center will be available to answer questions from community members and moms and dads who are looking to finish a diploma.
