CCC agriculture students win big at NACTA contestThe Coffeyville Community College (CCC) agriculture students took their knowledge and experience to the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture Judging Conference (NACTA) in Hutchinson, Kan. in April. Seventeen students from CCC competed against 18 junior colleges and 500 contestants from across the United States in seven contests. “The students worked hard and all of them competed in at least two contests,” said CCC Agriculture Sponsor, Derek Dick. The CCC Livestock Management team took first place while Cody Sloan of Cameron, Mo. took the first place individual award and Clem Neely of Chanute, Kan. took the third place individual award in this event. The CCC Agribusiness Management Team took third place with Laura Rexwinkle of Welch, Okla. taking the second place individual award. The CCC Agriculture Computers team took second place while Alyssa Golden of Coffeyville, Kan. took the third place individual award and Wendie Clubine won second place on the written section. The CCC Horse Judging Team won second place overall while Neely earned third place in reasons and the team took second place in reasons. The CCC Dairy Judging team won second overall while Clubine took first in placing and third overall and Sloan earned third in reasons. The CCC Soils Team took fifth place overall. The CCC Livestock Judging team earned second place overall, second in sheep, beef and reasons with Sloan earning second in swine. The CCC Quiz Bowl team took eighth overall.
