Red Ravens participate in Collegiate Honors ChoirSix members of the Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Choral Music Department earned the opportunity to participate Southwestern Division American Choral Directors Association Collegiate Honors Choir on Friday, Feb. 22. Sherri Allen of Independence, Kan.; Kati Hill of Baxter Spring, Kan.; Julie Hessig of Coffeyville, Kan. and Rachael Vann, Jeremy Gregory and Dennis Henry, all of Wichita, Kan. spent three days of intensive rehearsals with a performance that Friday evening. The guest conductor of the Honors Choir was Dr. Eph Ehly, a retired professor of choral music at the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music. Ehly was named “one of the most sought-after choral conductors/clinicians” by the American Choral Directors Journal. “It was a huge honor for our students to perform under his direction,” said CCC Choral Music Instructor, Darla Strecker. The Lee’s Summit Symphony Orchestra accompanied the choir as well as Karl Hayes and international jazz saxophone player, Bobby Watson. |
