Coffeyville Community College sophomores Brylee Brasher and Kenneth Dodson were selected by their peers as the 2017-2018 Mr. and Miss Redd T. Raven during Homecoming in late October.

Candidates for Mr. and Miss Redd T. Raven are CCC sophomores who have been nominated through their activity or athletic program. Each candidate must have a 3.0 GPA, two faculty and staff recommendations, and undergo an institutional interview process. The top three candidates from each side then go on to a student vote.

“The candidates for the Mr. and Miss Redd T. Raven program are what we consider to be excellent examples of what it means to be a Red Raven,” said Kris Adams, Director of Marketing. “These students not only work hard in the classroom and in their extracurricular activities, but also put forth effort in our community.”

Brylee Brasher, daughter of Mike and Michele Brasher, came to Coffeyville from Claremore, Oklahoma. Brasher was selected as Miss Redd T. Raven after having the highest overall score between both candidate sides. Brasher is involved with women’s soccer and serves as the Co-Vice President of Service for Phi Theta Kappa.

“I was interested in running for Miss Redd T. Raven because of the qualifications it required,” said Brasher. "I enjoyed the challenge of being interviewed and submitting an application and resume, versus it being based off a popular vote.”

Coffeyville native Kenneth Dodson, son of Bruce Dodson and Debra Foster, is a Field Kindley High School graduate. Dodson was selected as Mr. Redd T. Raven after having the highest GPA of all the candidates. Dodson is involved with band, choir, theatre and serves as President for Phi Theta Kappa.

“I decided to run for Mr. Redd T. Raven because I am very involved at CCC, and felt I would be a good representative of our student body,” said Dodson. “CCC has given me so many opportunities and I encourage other students to take those opportunities and do something with them. They won’t regret it!”
