CCC-Columbus Campus Hosts Workshop for Elementary Students

Students in the construction technology program at the Columbus Technical Campus assist students from Columbus Elementary in the construction of birdhouses.

The CCC-Columbus construction program recently hosted a workshop for over 70 Columbus Elementary fifth graders over a two-day period.  The students were bused to the Columbus Construction and Welding building where they were met by Bob the Builder.

Under the direction of CCC-Columbus construction instructor Kevin Hunt, students assembled pre-cut and pre-drilled birdhouses.  The construction students were responsible for preparing the materials to make it an easy assembly process for the elementary students.

Construction students assisted each student in the assembly and paint process of their individual birdhouse.  In addition to assembly and paint, students rotated through a variety of events that included human foosball, backhoe golf, and a tour of the welding program.
