Third annual CCC theatre summer community play announcedCommunity Theatre is still alive in Coffeyville. After the flood last summer swept away Floral Hall, the Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Theatre Department is presenting its third community theatre play this summer with community actors. The last two summers brought the musicals, Chicago (2006) and The Rock Horror Show (2007) to the summer stage at CCC. This year’s guest director will be long time community theatre director Kenny Aduddell who has directed and performed for over 60 community theatre productions in Independence and Coffeyville. This year’s summer community theatre play will be the classic comedy, The Philadelphia Story by Philip Barry. It will be presented June 12-14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre. The play is free with proceeds going towards remodeling of the CCC Theatre small lobby into a greenroom for theatre students and the public. The Philadelphia Story is about a superior-acting daughter of a wealthy main line family who is brought down to earth when she finds herself with three fiancés on her wedding day. The play was originally written as a vehicle for Katherine Hepburn who also starred in the MGM movie version. Her co-stars were Cary Grant and James Stewart, who won an Oscar for his role. The community cast includes Liz Allen as Tracy Lord. Aaron Phillips as C.K. Dexter Haven, Scott Gordon as Mike Couner, Chan Tatum as Liz Imbrie, Chris Harrell as George Kittredge, Caleb Coffman as Sandy Lord, Melody Harrell as Dinah Lord, Shea Schnoor as Edward, Patrick O'Neil as Thomas, Crystal Liosa as a maid. Chris Cameron is the Technical Director for the production. There are still three roles to fill for the play which includes two older male roles in Uncle Willie and Seth Lord and a older female role in Margaret Lord. Any community theatre actor in Montgomery County or surrounding areas interested in being in the play, working backstage, joining our community theatre board, or just becoming a member should contact Kenny Aduddell at 620-251-7618 or Mark Frank, Director of Theatre at 620-251-7700 ext. 2145. CCC Summer Community Theatre has recently established a Board of Directors. Mark Frank is President, Chris Cameron is Vice President and Bethanie Frank is Secretary. Kenny Aduddell is an At-Large member. We are looking for more community theatre membership. Membership is free and a CCC/SCT first membership meeting will be held in June in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre. |
