Elementary art students showcase work

Amy Waisner of Coffeyville, Kan. participates in the art show as part of the final in the elementary art class at CCC.

Students in the Coffeyville Community College (CCC) Elementary Art class put together individual art shows as part of their final exams.  The elementary art course is a required class for students interested in degrees in elementary education.

The lessons learned in this class are also beneficial for those working with groups such as Girl Scouts, camps and 4-H.  The course covers everything from the theory of art, art history and how to teach children with disabilities and those in gifted programs using art.  Students in the CCC class make 10 projects through the semester including 3D art, prints, drawings, paintings and sculptures.

The class culminates with an art show and each student is required to teach a class of their own.  Wanda Loomis is the instructor.
