Ponca City High School Band Wins Second Annual SEK Marching Inv.

The Ponca City High School band took first place at the Second Annual SEK Marching Inv. on Oct. 11 at Coffeyville's Veterans Memorial Stadium. Ponca City also received the Outstanding Percussion Award.

The Ponca City (Oklahoma) High School Band took first at the Second Annual SEK Marching Invitational hosted by Coffeyville Community College at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Oct. 11. Ponca City received an overall score of 87.3 with a rating of “1.”

Placing second was Independence High School with an overall score of 83.4 with a rating of “1.” Dewey High School was third with a score of 83.35 and a “1” rating. Burlington High School also received a “1” rating and an overall score of 82.09.

Four additional high schools competed at the event and each received a rating of “2.” Those schools were Riverton High School, Coffeyville’s Field Kindley High School, Parsons High School and Labette County High School.

Burlington High School received the Outstanding Drum Majors Award. Riverton High School was awarded the Outstanding Color Guard Award and the Outstanding Percussion was given to Ponca City.
