CCC Scholarship Program Impacts Many Students

The CCC scholarship program has a significant impact on many student’s ability to attend college.  Without a scholarship, education may not be possible for some students.  CCC awards 149 scholarships annually.  Those scholarships are made possible by the generous donations of CCC alumni and friends.  As scholarships are endowed, the principle of the donation gift remains intact while the interest is used to fund the scholarships annually.

In the past year, CCC has received donations from five donors to establish six new endowed scholarships.

Dr. Robert Moore has established a second scholarship in honor of his wife Betty.  Dr. Moore served 24 years on the Foundation Board and was one of eleven individuals who served on the first Foundation Board.

The second endowed scholarship was from John Deere Coffeyville Works.  They were instrumental and a key player in helping to establish the CCC Foundation in 1987.   Each year their company has continued to donate a John Deere riding lawnmower for the scholarship auction.

Carl and Mary Ice have established two endowed scholarships.   Both Carl and Mary attended Coffeyville Community College and transferred to Kansas State University to finish their degrees.   Carl is the President and Chief Operating Officer at BNSF Railway.   Mary is a state and district leader in the American Association of Family and Consumer Science.  While attending CCC, Carl played football for the Red Ravens on the 1974 and 1975 teams.

Terry Hersperger has endowed a scholarship for a student interested in Horticulture.   Terry is a 1968 graduate of CCC.  Following his time at Coffeyville, Terry transferred to Pittsburg State.   Mr. Hersperger is a retired District Manager of the Kansas City Star.   Terry has always had a passion for gardening/horticulture.

Keith Osborn is the Executive Vice President and General Manager of CVR Energy Inc.  Keith is an avid supporter of Coffeyville Community College.   He is a member of the Board of Trustees, a Foundation board member and has been a signature sponsor of the Jayhawk Shootout and Elite 8 Basketball tournament.   Keith’s family including his wife Penny are CCC graduates.  Keith had previously endowed two scholarships in his children’s name Thomas and Dala.  This past year, he has endowed a third scholarship in honor of his wife Penny.
