Former Sixth Graders Claiming CCC Scholarships

Recognizing the economic challenges of the area it serves, Coffeyville Community College began an initiative in the Spring of 2010 that is being utilized for the first time in 2016.   Former sixth grade students that were presented a scholarship certificate are redeeming their scholarships and furthering their education after high school as a Red Raven.

“This scholarship initiative helps students realize they do have the option to go to college after high school. It also helps their parents realize that it is financially possible as well,” said Delia Northup, Field Kindley High School Counselor. “I think having a college like CCC in our community is invaluable. We have so many students who would not think about post-secondary education without CCC.”

An investment that started at the local elementary school, has expanded to Caney, two schools in Coffeyville, and Tyro.  Students are required to graduate from a CCC service area high school with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

“Our goal is to ensure that every child in our service area is afforded the opportunity to further their education and pursue their goals and dreams,” said Yvonne Hull, Sr. Director of College Relations.  “Through this program, we have been able to commit over $5m to future CCC Red Ravens.”
