CCC to Sponsor Two Tailgating Competitions for Homecoming on Oct. 13

You have had all summer to practice - now is the time to show your skills on the grill. Bring your best recipe and all your Raven Spirit to the Coffeyville vs. Dodge City football game on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012. The party will kick off the Homecoming game for the Red Ravens.

Two competitions will be offered this year. The first competition will be a Spirit Competition that will be broken down into two divisions: a campus organization division and an open tailgate division. Judges in the Spirit Competition will visit the individual tailgate sites prior to the game. Sign up prior to Homecoming is not required for the Spirit Competition. Organizations and groups participating will need to have the group name displayed on their tailgate. Winners will be judged on originality and spirit. Winners will be announced at the event area and on the PA at halftime.

A second, new competition will be offered this year: the Tailgate Cooking Competition. There will be four categories for this competition: beef, pork, chicken and other (seafood, game, etc.). Three awards will be provided in each category plus three awards for Top Tailgate Chef.

This competition will be held in "Grillmasters" style with each entry receiving a container to be brought to the judges tent at an assigned time for each category. There will be a $5 entry fee for each category a tailgater would like to enter. Contestants will be considered for the Top Tailgate Chef Award only if they enter in all of the first three categories (beef, chicken and pork). There is no additional fee for the Top Chef Award. Registration is required by 5 p.m. on October 11 to enter into the Tailgate Cooking Competition. Official rules and instructions will be provided for the Tailgate Cooking Competition upon receipt of entry form and fees.
