Lancaster presents a Glimpse at Riding on the Orphan Trains

Phil Lancaster will share his multi-media program entitled “Riders on the Orphan Train.”  This program combines live music, archival photographs/video and storytelling for audiences of all ages.  Lancaster has been touring with this program since 1998 and is co-producer and presenter for the program.  He is also co-producer of the film Gospel, Biscuits & Gravy.

Lancaster was born in Texarkana, Arkansas and studied art and music at L’Ecole De Beaux Arts in Agers, France.  He became a member of a bluegrass band that traveled and played throughout France and produced an album entitled “Bluegrass Oldies Ltd./ Traveling Show.”  After returning to the U.S. he met three Arkansas musicians and the acoustic quartet “Still on the Hill” was formed in Fayetteville. They released their first CD in 1997 and the second in 2000.  The group performed at national and international folk festivals.  Lancaster is also an award winning songwriter, placing third in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest in North Carolina in 1999 and second at the Eureka Springs Folk Festival in 2003 and 2010.  

Lancaster’s tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, November 7th at the Coffeyville Meal Site, Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living. Lancaster will continue his tour of Coffeyville on Tuesday, November 8th with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville.  Wednesday he will entertain residents at Asbury Village and Manor House followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday and the Caney Nursing Home and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday.
