Drake to Present Environmental Ballads

David Drake will present his “What a Wonderful World” environmental program of songs for the earth, about other cultures and “recycled” sing-alongs.  Drake is recognized as an outreach educator for the Great Lakes and performed for many nature centers and environmental organizations including Greenpeace and the World Sing-Out for Peace.

The Wisconsin Area Music Industry named Drake the Folk Music Artist of the Year and Family Music Artist of the Year.  Drake has been called a “gentle troubadour” and an “elemental folksinger”.  In each performance, Drake blends his love of the earth and good work into his original songs and the folk song tradition.

Drake’s tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, October 8th at the Coffeyville Meal Site, Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9th. He will continue his tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday.  Wednesday he will entertain residents at Pickwick Place, Asbury Village and the Dale Apartments followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday and the Caney Nursing Home and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday.

The public is invited to the 10:20 a.m. Tuesday Humanities performances at CCC.  The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre.  For more information call 620-251-7700 ext. 2145 or 2038.
