Styka to Bring Early Jazz Women to the Stage

Heather Styka will bring a program about the women in the early days of the Jazz age.  Styka is a Chicago singer-songwriter with a warm and soulful voice.  As a song interpreter, Styka draws inspiration from the jazz and popular music of the 1920s -40s and the Tin Pan Alley aesthetic of songwriting.

Styka brings to life the songs of that era, focusing on what it meant to be a female musician and performer in the early half of the 20th century. She explores the role of women in the progression of jazz and popular song craft and interpretation.

Please join us for Styka’s tour in Montgomery County.  It will start on Monday, February 10th at the Coffeyville Meal Site, Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11th.  Styka will continue her tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday.  Wednesday she will entertain residents at Asbury Village and Manor House followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday and the Caney Nursing Home and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday.
