Paramedic Program Returns to CCC in January 2012

CCC will re-open the Paramedic program starting January 2012.  The program was put on hiatus in late 2009 due to financial concerns.  In response to repeated requests from the community and area medical facilities, the College implemented a plan of action to reinstate the program.

Brenda Pursley has been hired as the Paramedic Program Director on a part-time basis. Prior to the program being shut down, Brenda was an integral part of the program serving as the Lead Instructor and later the Program Director.

"CCC is excited to have Brenda return CCC to lead the Paramedic program.  Her years of previous teaching and program operations experience is invaluable to CCC as we re-fire the Paramedic program", said Marlon Thornburg, Vice President for Business Initiatives and Innovation.

The College will start accepting applications immediately for the Paramedic training program in January 2012.  Interested students should contact Lisa Miller, CCC's Director of Health and Safety Occupations, at (620) 252-7550 ext. 13 or e-mail [email protected]. Students applying to the Paramedic program need a current EMT license, an Anatomy & Physiology course (with a "C" or better within the last 7 years), and COMPASS test scores.  The Paramedic program results in the completion of an Associate's degree, which is required prior to sitting for the National Licensure Exam.
