Humanities Project: Janet Rutland to Take the Stage Week of Sept. 23

Janet Rutland will perform a program entitled Jazz and Life:  Johnny Mercer.  Rutland has been a fixture in the Tulsa theater and music scene for more than twenty years.  She portrayed the legendary country music singer Patsy Cline in American Theatre Company’s multiple productions of Always…Patsy Cline (1996-2007).  She played various roles in other ATC shows including Honky Tonk Angels, My Way-A Tribute to Frank Sinatra, Honky Tonk Angels Holiday Spectacular, The Immigrant and The Full Monty.

Rutland began producing annual cabaret shows for the Summer Stage festival at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center in 2005 and just completed her ninth entry titled A Song is Born.  She resides in Sand Springs, Oklahoma with her husband musician Shelby Eicher.  The couple has three sons and the musical family has performed for many years as The Eichers for various concerts and festivals.

Rutland’s tour in Montgomery County will start on Monday, September 23rd at the Coffeyville Meal Site, Sycamore Landing and Windsor Place Assisted Living before arriving at the Spencer/Rounds Theatre on the CCC Campus at 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24th. Rutland will continue her tour of Coffeyville with Windsor Place, Windsor Place SCU and the Medicalodge of Coffeyville on Tuesday.  Wednesday she will entertain residents at Asbury Village and Manor House followed by the students at Caney Valley High School on Thursday and the Caney Nursing Home and Guest Home Estates in Caney on Friday.

The public is invited to the 10:20 a.m. Tuesday Humanities performances at CCC.  The performances are free and held in the Spencer/Rounds Theatre.  For more information call 620-251-7700 ext. 2145.
